The December 2016 ‘Birthday Bash’ saw two associates from Angel Flight attend the morning tea. The honour of the visit was for the Branch President Mr Phil Symonds to present volunteer pilot Mr. Michael Solomon a cheque for $500.00.

Michael has been volunteering in his role since 2006, and has been an active pilot since 1965 having gained his licence at Royal Victorian Aero Club.

Mr. Solomon also advised us that he has undertaken 99 missions to date for Angel Flight and is now a regular speaker with Angel Flight.

Apart from being a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight Michael is a member of the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians, Past Commodore of the International fellowship of Yachting Rotarians-Qld Fleet, past member and President of Rotary Albion 19740200 and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by his club in 1989.

548/549 RAF Spitfire Squadron Memorial Service 27th April 2019

RAAF Association Pine Rivers and Sandgate Branch is holding a Service to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the RAF 548 Squadron Spitfire crash over the Young’s Crossing area on the 19th April 1944. Two pilots died in the mid-air collision killing both Squadron Leader William Wright and Sergeant Alan Chandler. The memorial service will commence at 8,30am on Saturday 27th April 2019 with a memorial luncheon held at Norths Leagues and Services Club at noon. Read More.
